Thousands of witnesses spotted the aircraft circling the Denver area in Colorado, US, on Wednesday (November 16).

Spooked spectators began questioning where the jet may have come from and what it was doing but officials are so far at a loss to explain anything about the strange sight.

Local news started tracking a flight codenamed IRON99 as it moved from California over the Pacific.

The curious aircraft traversed over the Rocky Mountains before eventually reaching the Denver city area.
